It’s how the Universe opens our eyes to something we’ve been ignoring, unable or unwilling to see for ourselves.

It’s like being suddenly slapped in the back of the head by a sharp upward stroke that comes out of nowhere.

It’s the kind of slap that snaps your teeth shut hard enough to jiggle something loose in your mind.

When you become conscious of it, whatever you were looking at when you got bitch-slapped is now shifted.

That’s how shifting your consciousness works – it’s a change in your perception that never goes away.

An old North African proverb says ‘If you want to travel fast, go alone but if you want to travel far, go together’
